HISTORY OF THE ST. PAUL HOTEL

 ONCE UPON A TIME, 

It was called the “Maison du Séminaire”…

The Saint Paul Hotel, formerly known as the “Maison du Séminaire”, was built in 1840 by a former bishop of Nice who had the idea of setting up a seminary for training priests. This project contributed to the charm of the Lazaret district located above the port.

This vast building with its gold façade and green shutters, typical Nice style, perched on its terrace facing the sea, has never ceased to be embellished.

In 1931, Monseigneur Rémond took great care in the decoration of the chapel. He asked various artists from Nice to rebuild the interior decoration referring to the early Christian and Romanesque periods and, more particularly, to the Basilica of Saint Clement in Rome.

Eugène Doucet then created the large half-sphere fresco inspired by the themes and compositions of Saint Vital of Ravenna, Saint Clement and Saint Paul.

In 2012, the establishment changed its name and became the Saint-Paul Hotel-Restaurant.

A complete renovation lasted several years. Today, the Saint Paul combines an ideal setting facing the sea, a refined atmosphere and perfectly equipped conference rooms. These transformations now rank it among the finest boutique hotels in Nice that offer refined luxury, without flashiness.
